International Yoga Day
International Yoga Day is celebrated on 21st June, coinciding with the summer solstice. It was proposed by India and supported by a record 175 member states. Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister who proposed it, stated that, “Yoga is an invaluable gift from our ancient tradition… Yoga is not just about exercise; it is a way to discover the sense of oneness with yourself, the world and the nature.” International Yoga Day aims to spread awareness of the benefits of practicing yoga.
